The name India is derived from the word ‘’Indus’’, which literally originates from the Old Persian word known as ‘’Hindu’’. India, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country (1.2+ billion people), and the most populous democracy in the world. It is crossed by the Indian Ocean on the south, and bounded by the Arabian Sea in the southwest side and lastly by the Bay of Bengal in the southeast side. The capital is New Delhi; other metropolises include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
